"I don't want to make modern films. You should make personal films, otherwise they won't be of interest to anyone else."

The multiple award-winning director Dore O. (1946 - 2022) has passed away. A pioneer of experimental film, she was one of the most important protagonists at the intersection of art and film culture since the 1960s. Together with Werner Nekes (1944-2017), she was a participant in documenta 5 in 1972. Five years later, she was represented in the d6 program with her 20-minute film "Kaskara" from 1974 (Preis der Deutschen Filmkritik).

Dore O. died in her birthplace and hometown Mülheim an der Ruhr.
