The performance collective Black Market International is back in Kassel as part of the Kassel Museum Night on September 7, 2025. In 1987, the artist group presented the 24-hour improvisation Das Brakteatenstück at documenta 8 in the provisionally converted parking deck of Kassel's Renthof.

The painter and object artist Günther Uecker has died at the age of 95. As a key member of the ZERO movement, the three-time documenta participant achieved international fame in the early 1960s and became a formative figure in German art after 1945.
It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of Koyo Kouoh, who died unexpectedly on the night of May 9-10. Only last December, she had been appointed curator of the 61st Venice Art Biennale, which she would have been the first black woman to head next year.
