Karl Oskar Blase, the “face of documenta”, would have turned one hundred years old on March 24, 2025. The Kassel-based graphic designer and professor of art and visual communication had been working for documenta since 1964 and had a unique influence on its appearance. To celebrate his milestone birthday, the documenta archiv is dedicating a multimedia studio exhibition to him in its Reading Room.

Still "documenta 14 entýposis"

The documenta archiv has created a 7-minute short film with the title “documenta 14 entýposis” for the 34th Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival. It is a multifaceted, varied and informative collage of many moments from the documenta Summer with the focus on the performances and public events of the world art exhibition in Athens and Kassel. The title “entýposis” references in equal measures the impressions of the associated webbing of the film material as well as the powerful impact of these sensations. It is authored by Michael Gärtner and Milan Soremski.

The short film is based on the wealth of documentary footage which the documenta archiv produced for its archival holdings in close cooperation with the team of documenta 14. The project was conducted and supported by six students.

The film is nominated for the “Goldener Herkules”.
