Revisitations: (Re)encounters and new perspectives

The performance collective Black Market International is back in Kassel as part of the Kassel Museum Night on September 7, 2025. In 1987, the artist group presented the 24-hour improvisation Das Brakteatenstück at documenta 8 in the provisionally converted parking deck of Kassel's Renthof.

The US artist and two-time documenta participant Robert Grosvenor has died. Just recently, on August 30, his retrospective covering works from 1965 to the present opened at the Fridericianum.

This year, we are once again welcoming two Goethe Fellows to the documenta archive. Júlia Cavazzini and Dea Tcholokava will be joining the team for the coming months.

The Belgian conceptual artist Guillaume Bijl died on June 14, 2025 at the age of 79. Typical of the self-taught artist's work is his humorous play with everyday situations, kitsch and museum presentation forms.
