The project “A Cultural Agent for documenta 14” was initiated in Hesse in collaboration with Juliane Gallo in September of 2016. Its goal is to inspire curiosity about documenta 14 among children and adolescents, to strengthen documenta’s collaboration with schools, and provide more information about the history and the importance of the exhibitions since their beginning in 1955. For this purpose, the documenta archiv has created a box of archival materials that have been passed on to Juliane Gallo. Press articles, documents, photographs, and the catalogs for every previous exhibition serve to illustrate the ideas, implementation, and reception of documenta. Important events and particularly significant artistic positions of each exhibition can be explained using examples. Additionally, the students get an idea of the work that is carried out by the documenta archiv.

The idea for the project was inspired by the nationwide program “Cultural Agents for Creative Schools”, which was realized in five federal states in Germany from 2011 to 2012.

Cultural Agent Schools are: Schule Hegelsberg, Losseschule, Söhre-Schule Lohfelden, Theodor-Heuss-Schule Baunatal, Friedrich-List-Schule, Goethe-Gymnasium, Jean-Paul-Schule/ Freie Waldorfschule, Wilhelm-Filchner-Schule Wolfhagen.
